Hello everyone, just found this place and wanted to post my first topic Eclipse 55040 HU--Need Aux input! -- posted image.

My question is: does anyone know of ANYWAY i can hool up some kind of aux to this HU since it dont have one built in???  I want to install a MP3 player OR full computer system but NEED this input since im NOT gonna go the fm mod way!!

I know pioneer has some kind of adapter to do this, and there has to be a way to custom make one if necessary?

Any Ideas Eclipse 55040 HU--Need Aux input! -- posted image.

does this unit have an input for a changer? Pioneer's aux inputs go in through the IP-bus connection which is also used for changers.  Alpine's got a similar method of connecting their inputs. I'm not that familiar with eclipse though.  Unless this H.U. has some other input besides the antenna, it's probably not feasible to use it for something like that.

Can anyone special wire an adapter that will make this work? From din-to-rca?? Would there be any difference from the way Pioneer did theirs? Should be simply a soldering/wiring issue, right?

Thanks

I looked on Eclipse's website, which was most unhelpful, and they didn't specifically mention auxiliary input capability.  However, they did mention the E-LAN data network, which is used to send data between head units and changers, etc.  You could try calling an Eclipse dealer in your area to ask about this(though their online dealer locator sucks too - will only give you an address if you enter an exact match zip code). I'm going to call this one in my area, b/c I'm curious about this too.  I'll let you know what I find out.

ok this is what i have . pioneer deh-p7200 . i need an aux input for my mp3 disk man but didn't want to go get the aux inputs through the IP-bus connection . i just thought that the unit is way too much  (u.s. $75) to do such a simple job . i decided to check and trace the wiring at the ip bus . there are 2 inputs at the top left (when looking at it from the back) of the ip bus that can be safely connected to a low input such as a disk man . it worked clean no filters necessary .  now hope that this can help you in doing what your trying to accomplish with the eclipse unit . I'm not familar with the eclipse but you can try something ...

ummm........I'm a big fan of Eclipse...but I must say, they do leave a little to be desired as far as hooking up auxillary inputs..basically..hate to be the bearer of bad news...if it isn't Eclipse..it won't work..that's teh whole reason behind the E-Lan network...atleast that's what I was told by eclipse about 2 years ago...and they don't seem to have changed much..sorry man..
