I just picked up an Alpine 7894 to replace my Sony CDX-C760X and 10 disc changer combo.

i was doing a little looking around at the Alpine changers when i noticed that alpine's AI-Net cable is the exact same as sony's Unilink cable. does that mean that my alpine deck could work with my sony changer?

the only think i notice is that the old sony deck had the unilink as well as bus audio-in rca's, whereas the alpine deck only has the ai-net connector, so i am not sure how that works. anyone shed some light on this?

I'm almost positive it will not work with the sony changer.  As you probably know, many changer cables look the same but that doesn't mean they'll work with each other.  Especially considering your new alpine deck doesn't have the audio-ins, even if you were able to get power/ground/control to the changer, I don't know how you could send the actual audio signal from the old changer to your new deck (at least not without some extra adaptors and stuff).  I could be wrong, and if so, others feel free to correct me.  Although I guess you could always give it a try and see if it works, but if something goes awry don't blame me for itAlpine Deck with Sony Changer -- posted image.
