Hi, I have an Alpine 9826, which as the subject states has only one RCA output. I have a pair of blaupunkt (sp) 6.5 front speakers, as well as 6x9 pioneer rear speakers, and a 12" fosgate sub. I also have 2 amps; one 500watt 4 chan kenwood, and a 250 watt 2 chan lanzar.

I know there are various ways to connect put this stereo together, but i was wondering what way would would make it sound the best.

This stereo is going in a 99 mitsu galant.

Does your four-channel amp have high-level inputs? If so, use the speaker outputs from the HU to drive it and connect your four main speakers to the amp. If the amp does not include high-level inputs, you will need a line-output adapter (speaker-to-line level adapter, also known as an LOC.) Use the line-level (RCA) signal to drive your subwoofer amp.

sorry, but what exactly does high-level inputs? does that refer to the frequencies of the signal or something else?

also, what does a LOC do?

Hmm. OK, please don't take this the wrong way but I think it's time you go to see your friendly neighborhood car stereo installer shop and pay for some help. If you don't understand these terms you are a long way from being able to handle even a basic install yourself. Believe me it'll be worth the price to get it done correctly! And if you are cool and make friends with the installer, they might even let you watch and you could learn at the same time. Systems with Single Preamp Headunit -- posted image.

I agree with DYohn on that. A search through your amplifier user's manual would tell you if it has high level input. If you're not in a hurry to get this into your car, spend some time reading through threads in this forum's archives. The education can't be beat even if you had to pay for it.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Thanks guys :), sometimes it takes an outside opinion to point someone in the right direction. I have it hooked up so that it works fine and sounds ok. I will bring it in when i have some extra time.

oh, and i know it varies from shop to shop, but what should i expect to pay for this sort of install?

basically you're suggesting daisy chaining my amps. Runnign all the speaker wire back to the 4 ch. amp, and then having an rca go from the output of that amp to the input of the 2nd amp.

no what he is talking about when he talks about high level inputs is that the amp can take a pre-amp signal from speakers, like those that could be in the back. A LOC or line out converter does the same thing so you can create a pre-amp signal from the speaker signal, but he difference is that it has jacks for rca plugs. take it to a shop
