After having completed all the wiring for my car's system I have some left over, I have some 12 gauge speaker wire left over, and some 8 gauge power wire leftover. They are both stranded copper wire.  Which one will be the better choice to run from amp to subwoofer?

 thank you

It depends on how much power the amp puts out.  Assuming that you only needed 8 gauge power wire then the 12 gauge speaker wire will be fine to take the power to the subs.  If you are going for looks then you can still use the 8 gauge wire ( althoug a bit overkill and sometimes harder to wire to the subs).

How much distance do you have between the amp & the subs? If it's a long distance go for the 8 gauge  but if it's a short distance the 12 gauge is not going to affect the performance at all.
