So I picked up a PrecisionPower PCX1500 for pretty cheap the other day and want to power two Directed SX15 subs with it, but I have a problem. The subs are 600wrms and 4-ohm DVC, so if I wire them up it would present the amplifier with either a 4 or a 1 ohm load. My amp is only stable down to 2 ohm (1000wrms @ 2 ohm). I see that Rockford Fosgate used to make a product called the "PunchMatch" or something like that. I can't find anything out about it online. My Rockford dealer in town doesn't know anything about it, but they will sell me the only one they ever came across for $100, and I guess they tell me it can change the impedence going into my amplifier? I would really like to be able to use this amp for my subs. any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -mike

Yes they do exist, I believe the techial name is a linear transofmer...also made by accumatch.
The plus side is they will match the impedance you need when wired in line with the subwoofer load.
The down side, they will rob 40-60% of the power going to your subs.
I have had 3 on my shelf in the garage for testing purposes and hate to bring them out most of the time
