I just bought a 2003 Xterra SE a few weeks ago and I am looking to replace the receiver because I really miss being able to play mp3's. I am going to put in an alpine cda-9815 out of my old car.
I was wondering if anybody had a wiring diagram for the Fosgate sound system in an 03 or could at least tell me what I need to know to replace it. I'll probably get an adapter from crutchfield but wasn't sure if this was all I would need. Specifically I am wondering if there is an external amp somewhere & if I can hook into it through my preamp outs. I'm probably going to replace the sub and maybe some of the other speakers eventually but don't have the time or money now, but was wondering what I needed to know to do that also.
Thanks for the help and sorry if this has already been answered. I looked around the forums and couldn't find anything.

Looks like a simple installation as far as a simple wiring harness. Both Metra and Scosche say the same wiring harness for the vehicle:

Keep in mind that on many of the newer Nissan vehicles, if you turn on the key without the dash bezel plugged in, the air bag light may come on.  You can find reset solutions for this online (google), however, it's best not to have to in the first place.

Ok, thanks.  I'll be careful to not mess up the air bag light.  I found a wiring harness but since it has an external amp I'm going to have to run all my own wiring anyways.  Oh well, gives me an excuse to upgrade the system.
