i have a box that is 2.21 ft3 and has 2 alpine swx-10's. the stats that came with the sub call for a vent that is 1x11x22 inches for a single sub which converts to 242 inches. my first question is with two sub do i double the size of the vent say 2x11x22? i want to make the vent 16 inches wide.  the way i under stand it is that vent volume is vent volume therefore i can make my vent 2x16x15 which is 480 inches, aprox. twice the recommended vent volume for a single sub. is this correct or am i way off on this? thanks

by changing the depth of the port you only change the tuning feq. of the port.  It is the first 2 diminsions that are important to try to keep the same.  so if you have a spec that calls for a 1x11x22 for a single box then you can make the port 2x22 like you said but by change the depth of the port will change the tuning feq.  and rememeber if your box is only 18 inches long and you need a port that is 22 inches deep you can always turn it in the back (like into a L shape) but be sure too leave the 1 inch opening in the back (per sub side) check image below.
