I have a 1997 Lincoln Towncar that I am returning to stock. It has the factory amp/tuner on the rear right side of the trunk. My problem is I can't find a place to plug in the antenna and there is a 3rd molex on the factory amp that is not being used. I seem to remember a seperate tuner in addition to the amp. Any ideas? Am I losing my marbles here?

The antenna plugs into the tuner on those..all the lincolns and mercurys of that year have the tuner/amp in the rear. You just have to find the hole in the unit where it plugs in..it has to be there. If not at the amp on the right side and it has some different type system (ford is known to throw curve balls) check within reach of the cable in the rear..there might be a tuner in the trunk mounted to the wall behind the seat..or up under the rear deck..it is quite possible. but genarally on those years it is all one unit.

Good Luck

Master5 thanks for trying to help, but I think I can FIND AN ANTENNA PLUG IN AN AMP. Turns out there was a seperate tuner box that the customer had left at home.

Well tell the customer it would help to have all the components if he wishes it to actually work..lol

don't get me wrong..I didn't think you were unqualified to find the antenna hole..but we get alot of DYI'ers that may not see the hole..well you know, I didn't realize the post was from you at first..I just assumed a newbie when I saw the question

Yeah the fords are a strange breed..its like you never know from one to the next what it is going to need..guess thats why we have to stock like 15 different ford harnesses. And still there are some I can't even get a harness for and have to "cut" in..it's crazy.

So that's your best excuse for not being able to find an antenna hole???1997 Towncar return to stock -- posted image.

Kidding bro..every day in the bay is a long day..at least I know it is for me. I am currently on leave of absence due to an illness in the family (all is ok now) but have been off for 2 weeks and just killing my free time here. I start a new job monday in another state up so back to the bay soon for me.

Take it easy..I relieve stress by blowing stuff up..try it..lol
