I have a customer with a 2005 Porsche SUV (I wont try to pronounce the name) but its the one that is basically the same as the Tourag from VW. Anyways he wants a Pioneer Z1. The info I have found so far said it was all optics. Can anyone verify this, can I just grab speaker outputs at the factory amp? I mean the signal must go to regular speaker wire eventually right? And on that same note, anyone know where the amp is located in this thing? I havent had this thing in my shop so I dont know what is involved in this one at all yet, I havent even seen the dash to know what mounting the thing is gonna be like. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes fiber optic, but yes you can grab audio at the amp (I believe the amp has the x-over so you are safe there), which is in the cargo area, drivers side, behind a panel.

Usually I make my own dash kit, out of some higher end abs. I don't believe there are any kits available.

Ya, dash kit does not concern me, thats the easy part of this job. I was just kinda worried about the integration side. Is there any issues with removing the factory deck or is it completly independant from the rest of the system

Never had any problems with removing the deck. What system is it? I think the standard german plug works for getting constant, switched and ground. Is this the upgraded or basic system in the Cayanne?

By the way, I always replace the center channel speaker too, usually bridge deck power to it.

Bridge deck power? What the heck are you talking about, in my experiece decks are about as comfortable with being bridged as drug dealers are comfortable with feds.

Actually the factory amp is located on the passenger side, in the removable cargo hole near the tailgate. The amp is above the storage area, and you can see a little of it up there. It has fiber optic to the radio. Some models have the battery in the spare tire hole, depending on if it has the Bose sub. If its not there it is under the driver seat and you need a set of "M" torx drivers to get at it. They are torx with 10 points instead of 6.
