Hey I'm doing an install for a friend of my dads son in his 99 lexus es300. And he's keeping the stock 6 disc cd changer, and i was wondering if anyone had done this with this car and i was wondering where you got the signal from? Also i was wondering if anyone had the wire colors, or if i should just tap right at the speakers. I also was wondering if there was anything weird i'm going to encounter.

Ok i'm doing an an l.o.c. on a 99 lexus es300. It's got a 7 speakers lexus premium sound in it. And in the rear deck it's got a single speaker in the middle and is very accessible. My question is can i hook up both positives on the loc to the positive wire going to that speaker, and both negatives on the loc to the negative wire going to the speaker, and be ok? It was just a thought i had of doing but i was unsure if anything would be damaged. I don't have much experience with l.o.c.'s i've only done 2 ever.

That center rear is probably fed a sub signal. Connect your LOC to those wires and disconnect that factory woofer. You don't need to use both + and - wires on the LOC; instead, use just one channel. The RCA from LOC to amp will feed into the L input on the amp.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Well here's the thing. I took apart the door panel on the passenger side, and i followed the wiring from the speaker back into the car, and tested it and it was to that speaker and tweeter, and i believe was a 5 ohm load, and the tweet on its own was 10, and so was the 6.5" speaker, so i tapped the wire after those two were connected, and i tested with a drill battery to see if they'd pop and they did. SO i hooked that to the right channel on the LOC. But when i powered up everything there was no sound from the subs, but the amp turned on as it should and all the equipment was brand new, but i was getting no sound out of the subs. That's what led me to believe that both sets on the LOC had to be hooked up in order for it to function properly. Can you see anything i might have done wrong at all?

First, verify that the amp/ subs are functioning with an input signal. You may need to test on another car. Eliminate any questions in that regard. Next, how did you connect the LOC to the amp? If you fed only into the R input, the signal may not have been seen. In that scenario, you should try the L input, or if that didn't work use Y adapters to feed both inputs. Other simple things to double check are the deck's balance control, fading, etc.

Note: the impedance of the speaker whose input wire you are tapping for the LOC makes NO DIFFERENCE. You are tapping input signal, not the load of the attached speaker.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

ok well the subs are sitting in my garage right now so i can test those out pretty simply. And the kids dropping off the car tomorrow morning while he's at work so i'll have a lot more time to mess with it. So you're saying then i should try and hook up the L input instead of the R input? And as far as the deck goes, everything was set at flat except the bass was up a bit. I can test out the amp tomorrow in my own car if hooking up just the left doesn't work.

thanks. *Oh i was also wondering if there was any specific reason to use the L instead of the R? I don't know much about LOC's so sorry if it's a dumb question.

OK well a bit of an update...... It turns out his pos "NITRO" amp that he bought "brand new" was garbage... It would power up but it would not put out any sound now matter what. Then i tested it in another car and got the same results.... I then tested my wiring etc... with a spare amp i had laying around and it worked ok. So he's going to return the amp, and also i guess he's getting a cd player too so no more loc.
