I have heard that you can actually program a Ford PATS key using only one programmed key if it is done right. I ahve never tried, but I have always pondered that idea. It seems like you should be able to fool the system someway. Anybody done this?

You can use only one key on older models of PATS, 1998 and up require 2 keys, But as you said if there is a way that would be great.  Only One Ford key Question -- posted image.

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.

put key in turn to run wait till THEFT light goes out, remove key, then insert new unprogrammed key and start car. new key is now programmed. If you are using 555f program same way , but hold capsule 1\2" away from the key hole while remote starting.
