clifford ag5 to blame it or not?

here is the situation, i imported a car, and the compliance shop can't start it. It has a clifford AG5. The fob appears to do what you'd expect it to do: arm and disarm the car. The car battery died in transit, and was replaced. It just cranks, doesn't catch. The car was starting ok before it started this journey, and the alarm was ok too. My question is, is there a mode the AG5 could be stuck in that could cause this? I read it has non-volatile memory and likes to remember its "state". Could its state be such that the car is immobilized regardless of the arm/disarm fob? (it chirps and all that stuff). EG: could blackjax be on, but no siren flashing lights or other indication? the shop is getting tired of trying stuff, they want to send it clear across town to someone with the clifford stuff. So I'm trying to find out if they should be getting a mechanic, rather than an alarm specialist, to trace why it won't start..

one other thing I should have mentioned: before giving up the alarm guy said he thought it might have a remote clifford immobilizer (wireless) and it may have lost touch with the AG5. My understanding is that the remote immobilizer gadget clifford sells (or sold) would wait 20 seconds before cutting its 12v line, but then I'd expect the car to start, then die.. but it just acts immediately like there is no fuel - even though the dash lights etc all look normal.

If your AG5  is European or Australian, you need to turn the key to ignition then press the padlock or ** button. This should free off the ignition and starter circuits. What is the actual alarm?
