chrysler oem alarm add on

I'm more familiar with the Automate line than the Hornet, but it should be pretty much the same thing, as they're made by the same company. Is your Hornet an old piece, or is it the current model? On the newer versions (last few years) of the Automate AM1 (should be similar to your alarm), the lock and unlock signals from the factory remote must be programmed to the unit. See if the install manual has some kind of doorlock "learn routine" or something like that. It's a little tricky and involves a lot of steps that have to be followed to the letter.

Chris, thank you for reply my Hornet alarm is new just bought it I have installed a few of them in the past but this OEM add on is the first I have tried to do. I did the learn routine and it just doesn't work I don't know what else to do with it if by chance the learn routine didn't work I don't know how to redo it because the module stores the routine in memory.

Hmm, well, I do mostly Audiovox. I just remember trying to help a friend with that crazy learn routine when the AM1 was redesigned. The instructions aren't great, and many people just sent the units back as defective instead of figuring out how to reprogram them. But anyway, you said you tested the wires, but did you test them not only for positive voltage when locking/unlocking, but to verify that they rest at ground too? You should be testing like this: --All three wires going into the alarm brain should test as a ground while at rest. --Arm input should switch momentarily from a ground to a positive, when locking the doors with the factory remote. --Disarm input should switch from a ground to a positive, when unlocking the DRIVER's door from the factory remote. --Disarm defeat input should switch from a ground to positive when unlocking the PASSENGER door from the factory remote. (That is, when you press Unlock once, the wire should still stay a ground........only when you hit unlock a second time, to open the other doors, the wire should change to positive.) If all three of those wires test out right, well, I don't know too much about that learn routine. I've only done it once myself. Does the manual show any way to reset the unit? Or maybe just going through the learn routine again will re-teach it? Maybe DEI tech support would know what to do at this point.

Wild thought, how about diode correction on the alarm's lock/unlock outputs, I've had a couple of Fords (GEM box) and Euro GM where one of the factory wires was sitting on ground, had to diode the alarm's outputs to make them work, also something may be feeding back to the ignition switch making it think the key is inserted, thus DON'T lock the doors.
