I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota ST, and have installed a Compustar 2W900FM-AS system, the brainbox is CMU3000. I have followed the wiring information on this site along with the wiring information from the manufacturer. My problem is that after the doors are closed, my door sense goes from 12V+ to only 3V+ and causes the system to see the doors open (it is a negative sensing system). I have searched on this site and found a diagram to add a relay into the system, but if I'm reading it correctly it only gives a ground when the door is open, and it requires a 12V signal with the doors closed. I have attached the diagram that I have found, and am wondering if it is correct for my application or not. If more information is needed just let me know and I'll try to get it as fast as possible.

Where did you find your door triggers?

wire your relay like this:
30 = ground
85 = + door trigger you found
86 = ground
87 = - door trigger input
this will give the alarm a negative signal when the door is opened

oh and make sure you test both doors. i forgot dodge likes to use independent door pins so the wire you found might be just for that door. if you do have independent door pins just do the same thing for the other door once you find its door pin

I have connected to the wires behind the cluster, and it is a quad cab truck. The problem is that it should see a ground with a door open and +12v with the door closed, and after a door closes, after a few seconds the voltage drops to +3v, which the brain sees as a ground. I've included a poorly drawn diagram as to how I've got it hooked up.

Okay, I have installed the relay, and it is working like it should, but now the system will not go into "Reservation mode" for the auto start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i had the same prob with my 2005 Dodge Dakota Laramie. But if you watch the blinking factory led on the dash u will notice that it will change its blink rate after about a minute or so. Only then can you arm your compustar, otherwise the factory alarm will retrigger the doors setting off the compustar alarm. Thats wht i do .. wait two mins before arming. I think it has to do with the dome light delay and the headlight conveinience feature. If anyone has a true solution to this problem .. i would like to rewire mine so i dont have to go through the whole 2 mins wait before arming. But in the mean time it has worked for me for 3 yrs now

Thanks.

The solution to this sort of problem is well established. Check out Directed tip 1076 for a diagram.
The door triggers need to be diode isolated from the control module(the instrument cluster in the case of this post's Dodge Dakota) as well as from each other. This eliminates false grounds from a control module altogether.
