2008 honda civic remote starter

I would like to first give some praise to the members and professianals of this forum who lend their experience and advice to others with less knowledge then themselves.  I have searched this forum and found pros that are willing to lend their advice which I have found to be pretty rare in specialty fields.

I have some electronic knowledge and my wife was given an Audiovox Prestige remote starter for her birthday so I am trying to install the starter myself ( with this economy, I have to!)  I have most of the unit installed but I have a few questions.

Diodes- They were included with the kit, I know what  their function is,  but do I need them for my particular car? If so, which wires? I can upload the wiring diagram for the starter if need be.

I found a forum post regarding a 2007 civic which someone was kind enough to post the wiring diagram for. I have found the wires in the 08 to coincide with the 07. However, I have some trouble with the wiring.

My unit has two ignition output wires, Ignition 1 and ignition 2. The diagram for the 2007 civic shows one ignition wire. Is it safe to wire both ignition output wires to the one ignition wire on the ignition switch?

Rather then take the door panel off to test the door switch, are they ground switched or positive switched on an 08 civic?

is the break light switch 12v switched or ground switched?

Lastly, the diagram says - Power lock- Green type B    Power unlock-Gray type B

What does a type B wire look like?

You only need to use Ignition 1 coming from the remote start unit.  Simply insulate the end of the Ignition 2 wire coming from the remote start unit.

The brake wire is a switched positive voltage.  There are 2 wires on the switch, one has 12 volts on it all the time, the other has 12 volts only when the pedal is depressed, that is the wire you want to connect to.

Pirate, sorry it took us so long to get back to you, but you did notice that once we started answering, they just kept on coming.

Type B was not a reference to the wire.  It was describing the configuration of the door lock system in that car.  You would need to look on their webpage to find out what they call a type B system.

you will need the diodes if you use the lock and unlock to control arm and disarm.

I have never been able to keep up with the whole type A,B,C....to Z lock thing. call it what it is, neg. trigger!

Thanks for all the replys. I think with this info I can complete the job. I have one last question I just thought of. I noticed on the antenna wire harness there were a few wires. Which two wires should I hook up the 556uw to?

make sure you got the 12v constant, blue negative trigger or status input and the transponder ring, you should run the ring to the cylinder and make sure its its tightly in place. now i suggest you fork out the extra 30 dollars and get a Fortin HONDA-SL3, key-override-all, Idatalink bypass or bypass kits. something that is data so you dont loose a key since the 08 only comes with 2 and less hassle to deal with, more reliable than the KIB method.
