I recently purchased a new jetta 2009. I have been thinking of adding a aftermaket alarm system. I have been getting mixed concerns with most instalers of alarm systems that there is not a legitamate way of installing. There are some places that claim to be able to install. I would like to know honhestly know if i should wait more till there is better knowledge of this car. I would like to know if anyone has had any simmiliar issues. I am also looking to install an aftermarket in dash dvd system with gps.2009 jetta, viper alarm -- posted image.

Definitely no reason an alarm can't be installed.
Volkswagens are not only unpleasant to work on, we installers don't see a lot of them come in for installations, so we don't get to get a lot of experience with them.
Basically, we'll have to turn away two regular cars to do one European car (at least that's my opinion), so we'll naturally have to charge more.
Your car has been the same since 2007, so waiting more time isn't going to change much. While it would be best to find someone who's worked on a car like yours before, any careful, competent installer should be able to do it.

Well if anyone has any good information i can go on. I went to a few stereo shops in the long island area. I had some tell me it can be done and no big deal. And other tell me all kinds of extras needed and not sure. I have used this one location many times in past and never had any issues. I was told this car is more dificult to do the other cars.
