96 bmw 328is coupe, door locks problem

I am installing a VIPER 5900 2-way paging alarm/ remote start on my BMW. I have everything working correctly so far except the door lock and un-lock now. I have the wires hooked up as follows: Power Unlock          BLUE/RED PowerLock          WHITE/ BLACK When I hit lock or unlock I just get a chirp but they do not lock or unlock...Do I need to program the alarm for this car's locks? If so how? THANKS!

You need to use a  556U by-pass and wire it European method (see instructions), then use only the GREY VALET key in it, the eys with the remote control buttons are still "talking to the car" and preventing the door locks from working 'cause it thinks the key is stil in the ignition. Remember to wire yor 2nd ignition from the remote start to the purple (ACC) wire in the ignition loom. The easiest place to pick up those lock/unlock  wires is in the door loom where it joins the main loom in the kick panel, neg going on the lock wires. N.B. Trunk release is a grey/light green in that floor loom, feed your RED / white to a relay via a 5amp fuse making the relay's output positive and join that output to the grey/light green. Trunk contact is also in that loom, white brown as is the brake light feed blue/black or GREEN/ black don't connect at the bake switch, it's data!  Tach is a thin black wire on the OBD ll socket, if not physically there, it's behind the instrument panel, don't know the colour prob black, test the 2 plugs. You will need to put a 1amp diode to the power feeds of the trunk lights at the lights, RED / yellow, band towards the lights because they get a surge on locking and once every three or so times you arm the car you will trigger the alarm otherwise`. N.B. if the antenna is the type that doesn't incorporate the valet switch or the LED bury it behind the instrument panel, it works perfectly well there. Use what I said because I've done loads of these with no trouble.

Sorry, I've just realised, I was talking about an E46, you have an E36 and they are completely different, you should have a control box behind the glove box, the middle plug is the one Pin 4 lock and pin 17 unlock, pos feed, no trunk release, right hand plug are the door feeds BROWN / something + dots x 2, for the two doors, diode them together.brown white is trunk (hatch) contact. Now here's the clever part:- Take a spare aux output, pref one that you can set as timed (10secs)  to actuate on arming wire it to 85 on a relay then 12v+ at 3 amps fused to 86 and 87, 30 via 2 x 1 amp diodes, bars away from relay to lock and unlock wires. Set the alarm part to ignition lock, 0.8 secs pulse. This will give you dealock on arming the alarm and normal lock on ignition. The colours CK gave you are correct if the white red is there, the plug I mentioned will then be purple, earlier versions only had the unlock wire blue/red going into the plug. That's why I gave you the pin numbers.
