Hello! And thanks for such an awesome resource website!!!!   I have a Viper 160xv in my daughters '94 Saturn. Up untill yesterday it has worked flawless since I put it in last winter. Basically the car died and when she restarted it the dash LED stayed on solid. Everything about the unit still worked fine. This morning I pulled the car into the garage to check it out, and the light was off. After removing the light, It tested open, so I replaced it. The new light is the same way, on constant. Can it be reset? I removed the fuses and its still on after I put them back in. Is this unit toast?

                                           Thanks   Jeff   in Alaska

Oh Yeah... Forgot to add that I have this exact same unit in my truck, so I plugged my daughter's in it's place. Same result... LED on constantly. So I guess the possible valet switch issue is out the window.

Key ON, Key OFF, push valet button once. You are in valet mode.

Maybe, just maybe, just a wild thought, both units could have been in valet mode. viper led stuck on -- posted image.

He actually took one unit out of one car and put it into another truck. Same unit, just in two different vehicles. If its in valet mode in one vehicle, its still going to be in valet mode in the other.

OMG!!!  I'm such a tool! Thank You ALL  for your help! So basically what led me to be so paranoid and assume that it was fried was because she told me that her battery light came on for a second then the car acted crazy. I did a charging system check and found that the alternator diode was smoked. I repalced the alternator and charged the battery, and the car is back to normal. Was afraid a voltage spike might have fried the remote start. I did what some of you suggested... key on and off, then push the valet button. Waa Lah!!! Good as new!  I guess I'll print out the installation instructions that include the program options. That might have saved me some time wasted. What a tough little unit this viper is!!!

                     Regards    Jeff
