I installed a R/S on a 2003 dodge ram with 4.7. tach is connected to white with blue trace to the alarm.Everything works fine but now the engine light is on. Any suggestions on how .to make it go away. I disconneted the battery and it went away but now its back on.

the tach wire on the 996 should be GREEN/ orange, but that would have nothing to do with tripping the check engine light. The most common reason an engine light would be tripped is if you missed one of the ignition or accessory wires when you installed the 996. go back and test all the wires with a DMM when you start the truck with the key, and make sure your reproducing the same when your remote start powers up.

gmando,
Make sure you have the RED / WHITE 2nd Ignition wire on
the Ram hooked up, watch it because there are a couple
of RED / WHITE wires there, its the one of smallest gauge.
(the other one's have a pos.voltage at rest) and be sure not to have your test light on this 2nd ignition wire
during "crank", it can cause the check engine light to come on also, depending on the type of test light you use. One last thing, I'm not familiar with the system
you installed but, make sure the second ignition output
is active during crank too. Bypass the remote starter for a couple of days and manually start it during this time and make sure you drive it for a little while, this may cure the check engine light, then hook the starter up again and go from there. If the light still activates
you may have caused too many "Fault Codes" in the BCM and will have to have the Dealership or someone with a DRBII to erase the fault codes.
Derek.
