97 lesabre rs w door open only

I installed a Prestige APS620N in a 97 Buick Lesabre. I used an iDatalink bypass for the VATS. My problem is that the car will only start and run with a door open. If I close the door and lock the car and try to remote start it, the doors unlock, it starts, but only for 10 seconds. However, if I open the door and start it, then close the door, it stays running. I didn't connect the door trigger wire. Is this the problem? Or do I need some additional wiring? Thanks.

Where are you getting ground for the remote starter, and where are you getting ground for the module? The reason I ask is because there's a wire (usually tan on GM) that goes from the driver's door pinswitch, to the steering column. It feeds the keysense circuit, so you can get the key-in-ignition chime if the door is open with a key in the ignition. If you try to use that wire as a ground instead of grounding right to the chassis, it'll only work with the door open as you describe. Or, if you didn't do that, did you for any reason connect anything to the domelight wire in the car?

Wait, I read your post incorrectly. You're saying that with the door closed, the remote start does successfully start the engine and it runs, but shuts off after 10 seconds? Are you using voltage sensing or the tachometer wire? Maybe the car's domelight bulb(s) are altering the car's voltage level with the door open, and that's somehow making the voltage sensing on the 620N happy.........with the door closed and the lights off, it doesn't see enough of a voltage change, and is shutting down. You could experiment by closing the door but switching the domelights on, and see if this makes a difference. If you think that's it, you can either try changing the 620N's voltage level (it's in the programming menu), or you might have to hook up tach.
