Am looking for a recommendation for an experienced area installer of remote starters. The vehicle is my wife's new Forester and we're looking for a system that is reasonably compatible with the factory's OEM security system. Thank you ... Alan

Hey Alan, your going to have two options on this one. The first is to put the factory alarm in valet(turn it off) and install a alarm/remote start combo or use a module from idata with a remote start/keyless. The idata module has the ability to control the factory system.
Also, be prepared to lose a key because of the immobilizer. There is a part available for the transponder but it has to be programmed by a dealer. We have had bad luck using dealers to program our parts. I may be able to refer a installer as we have a few installers in Rhode Island. I will check tomorrow. Any preference on manufactures for the remote start?

beegbie ... I don't have a manufacturer preference and am deferring to the collective knowledge here for recommendations. When I say "compatible", my meaning is that there won't be conflicts. I have absolutely no problem keeping a functioning factory alarm system and a separate "stand alone" remote start system. I also have no problem with carrying the separate remotes that this install would likely call for.
the12volt ... Before posting, I did check the installer search for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island but of course that doesn't provide any info as to experience (with Subaru's) or years in the business.
Thanks to all for your consideration and assistance! Alan
