Thats not the correct model#.

If it's still doing ignition locks I dont think it's fried.   Can you try reprogramming the remotes>   What is the "Date Code" stamped (little date wheels) into the back of the module?  Is the module square, with a little slide off door?  4 dipswitches underneath?

Maybe it's me, but I dont ever remember a 551U.  So I looked thru my manual archive and lets say it's a 551R with a manual date of 08/99

Do you have a pushbutton switch plugged into the Blue programming port?  You'll need to turn the ignition on, press and release that button, then press and hold, then press button one on the remote, release, let go of the pushbutton, turn the ignition off and try button one for lock and unlock.

These systems would sometimes "Drop" remotes.  And would need them reprogrammed.

If this works we can program channels 2 and 3.

Well that would be about the first unit that I saw die.

Are you sure the antenna is plugged in.

Did the LED on the module flash during programming?

551U is the Valet piece that is a universal remote start. It does not have remotes you need a master alarm to activate it. This is from memory and I am old.

If it was installed by the place you took it to and you were the original purchaser and you have receipt. Then this is a great time to take advantage of Vipers nationwide lifetime warranty. Please post back how much they charge you. It should be $0.00
