Hey guys I'm trying to get my alarm installed on my 97 Civic w/auto trans. The alarm part went smoothly but not the remote start. I can start the car with the key and press the remote start and it will stay running when the key is removed and shutdown with the remote. It will not however remote start alone with the remote. The parking lights and guage come on but no attempts to start. If you guys could look over my wiring diagram or if you have any suggestions that would be great.

did you see the diagnostic codes as to why it did not start?

make sure u have the nss wire connected and switch turned to on.

your start wires look correct to me.

make sure the unit is still functioning.

take a meter, set to 20vdc, black to ground and red to purple start wire.

test to see if its giving a voltage when it cranks. if he does, you must have the green and purple wire reversed

remember, purple is going to the motor so it will go on the end of the wire going towards the fuse box.

no code for no start, just the error tone on my remote. the nss switch is installed and in the on position. I'll have to test the voltage to see if this is the case. thanks for the input thus far

I would take the NEUTRAL SAFETY , BLACK/ White wire on the H2 Harness and put it to the chassis ground of the car.  You should be getting some sequence of flashing parking lights to indicate what is failing. If not, is the fuse installed for the parking light curcit? Little door on top of the brain box.

5 flashes - Brake wire is active

6 flashes - Hoodpin wire is active

7 flashes - Manual transmission mode is enabled and not initialized.

8 flashes - Neutral safety wire has no ground or the neutral safety is Off.

Is the remote starter in the "AUTOMATIC" mode?

Looking at your heavy gauge harness connections H3:  Looks like a couple of the wires might be incorrect.  Test and verify each wire .

12volt constant (WHITE)  to RED / White, Red, and RED / Black

Starter (BLACK/ WHITE) to Violet on starter side of wire and Green to Key Side of wire.  Starter wire is cut and spliced into Violet and Green.

Ignition (BLACK / YELLOW) to Pink

Igniton 2 (YELLOW) to Pink/White.

Accessory (WHITE/ BLACK) to Orange

Alarm is in automatic mode, I'll try the chassis ground for the neutral safety wire. I'm going to also double check the heavy guage wiring. The alarm and lights and everything works, the only problem is when trying to start with the remote, parking lights and guage turns on but no start, then I get the error tone on the remote but no flashing parking lights indicating why it failed. I'm going to check those few things and then get back with you guys. I appreciate the help, glad to be a part of this community.

Okay so I've tested my connections and wire and fixed some errors, now I have two issues with the remote start. When I hit the remote start it starts for 2 secs then shutsdown, does this three times and then an error tone on my remote. Also when it begins to start when armed it triggers the alarm? Any ideas, should I use a better source for my tachometer wire than the back of the cluster, or does my alarm need to be programmed for voltage in the menu rather than tach?
