I just installed a Viper 5900 on my 2008 Kia Sportage and everything works good.

Problem is when I remote start and it shuts down after the preprogrammed time (12min) the head lights go out but the parking lights stay on, and they stay on indefinatly. The light switch inside is set to auto, when I remote start the parking lights are on solid, if I have the lights OFF then the parking lights flash (which is normal for that starter).

Under normal operation when you drive the car and park the parking lights stay on until you turn off the car, remove the key from the ignition and open the door to get out. So the problem is not with the starter but the fact that the parking lights will not go off under it see's a trigger. Is there any way to make the starter send a signal to the car to make it think a door was opened and make the parking lights go out?

(I tried disconnecting the parking light wire from the remote starter and it made no difference)

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Try connecting the GREEN / WHITE "factory rearm" wire to the driver's door pinswitch.
The output from the Viper might be strong enough on its own, or you might need to use a relay.
