I installed my remote start alarm, everything except the locks. Now the turn signals and brake lights dont work. The marker lights come on with the head lights but they dont blink with the turn signals, neither do the rear lights. There is also no clicking noise like there usually is. I thought it might be the thing that looks like a relay that makes the clicking sound but I never touched it during the install. The hazard lights and the brake lights also dont work. I have a 2001 cavalier. Im going to try a new turn signal switch, if thats what its called, other than that I have no clue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Bring it into the dealer and get them to put the diagnostics scan on the vehicle. This is a faster way than to trying to replace items on the vehicle that have no affect on the problem. It sounds like you may have shorted out your flasher relay or your flasher module. If this is tied into your BCM, you may need to replace the BCM as well. The tech guys at the dealership will be able to help you out better on this.

I was at the dealer today, they said try the flasher and if that didnt work I could have them take a look at it. They didnt say anything about the bcm, they were talking about either the flasher or the switch and the switch seems to work fine so im hoping the flasher will work. How much do you think they might charge for the scan? They charged me $12 for the flasher, I can only imagine what they want for the scan.

Scans usually cost about $ 40.00 but this changes from location to location depending on the hourly rate of the shop.
