Which Bulldog remote start system (RS1100)?

Did you connect the PKUMUX as per the Install "D"  diagram?

Did you connect the Bulldogs' IGN1 and ACC outputs to the trucks ignition connector wires and the Bulldogs' Starter output to the PKUMUX Violet wire?

Did you connect the Bulldogs' (-)Security Bypass Output wire to the PKUMUX Blue/White wire?

Did you wrap the PKUMUX antenna ring 3 to 5 times around the ignition cylinder at the correct location?

Its the deluxe 500 model.

The diagram i had for the pkumux was install "C", for gm's.

I do believe i have the connections right except for the bulldogs security bypass output wire? not sure what you mean by that and i dont see anything in the manual named that but the blue/white wire on the pkumux unit is not connected to anything because i read somewhere else that its for alarm systems ?  i dunno, maybe you can explain it better.

As for the pkumux ring, it came prewrapped i take it?  it came looped already with tiny copper lines inside a plastic slotted sleeve or am i suppose to unwrap the plastic sleeve and rewrap it?

thanks for the help

Thanks for the update.  The PKUMUX guide I have is dated 11/04/2010 in the top right hand corner.  You can download it from the DEI web sire at : http://www.xpresskit.com/product.aspx?productid=446  Compare that to the one you have, hopefully they are the same and we are looking at the same diagram.

If your PKUMUX came with the pre-formed antenna loop ( some don't ) then just position the loop over the ignition switch cylinder so it is over or in front of the cars PK3 antenna.  Don't unwrap it.

The main problem ( and hopefully the only one ) is the PKUMUX Blue/White (-) Ground When Running wire.  It must be connected to the Deluxe 500 H7/1 Blue/Black wire.  It is called (-) Ignition 3 by Bulldog.  This signal from the Deluxe 500 tells the PKUMUX to turn on its transponder bypass and perform its' remote start functions.

Another Deluxe 500 wire to check is H5/3.  It is the Neutral Safety wire.  The manual says to connect it to chassis ground thru a switch or to a Neutral Safety wire in the car.  Connecting it thru a toggle switch to ground is an easy way to wire up a Valet or Service bypass.  The Deluxe 500 must see a ground input on this wire to do a remote start.

Thanks Kreg,

Appreciate the quick replies!  The blue/white wire was the issue, its starts up now!!!

BUT, it wont stay running now, runs for approx 8 secs and shuts off then trys to restart.  The tach wire is not hooked up because i was told i dont need it, could this be the problem?

The H5/3 (nuetral safety is temp hooked to ground, im going to put a switch in to kill it when needed.

The bulldog manual is pretty involved and confusing specially when trying to program the transmitter or is this not needed since there is default settings?

Thanks again for the help and quick responses

Sounds like you need to connect the Tach wire and run in Tach Sensing mode.

Connect H5/9 to any Fuel Injector non-common wire.
   F.I. info from Bulldog:
TACH  Any wire NOT PINK, PINK/BLACK or PINK/WHITE (AC)  @ Any FUEL INJECTOR
Remember to change the Deluxe 500 programming to Tach mode ( the default is
Voltage Mode.) Start Feature Chart 2, Setting 2, to Option 2 ( Engine checking
Tach/RPM Learning Mode ).  Then you must do the Tach Learn procedure on Page 30
of the install guide.

Yes, I agree, the manual is obtuse.  The only salvation is Bulldog does supply

phone support for DIYers.

Ok well heres where i stand right now.. Ended up going through the programming of the remote and came across a section about programming it to read the battery voltage rather then tach and it starts and stays running fine now without tach hooked up.

New problems ive noticed today are, my left turn signal doesnt work, it sounds like that fast turn signal beep like when a light burns out but it doesnt work at all, i havent checked the bulbs yet but i really doubt it would do that if one bulb burns out when theres two in each section.

Another thing is when i push on the brake pedal the cluster light goes out, i release pedal and it comes back on, the brake lights DO work when pressed its just the instrument panel that doesnt work right when brake is pressed.

any thoughts?

Strange problems.  Check your Deluxe 500 ground wire.  Ensure a solid contact at a good chassis ground point.

For your truck, I would use the (-) Parking Light wire at the light switch or BCM.  It's only one low current wire to connect and it's inside the vehicle.  To do this, you must cut the connection between H2/1 and H2/5, then connect H2/1 to a good chassis ground.  H2/2 would then be connected to the Light Blue (-) Parking Light wire.  SeeH2/1 instructions on Page 10 of the install guide for more detials.
