This is my first alarm install and I figured my car would be simple enough for a first install. I have a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro, automatic, power locks and windows, and pre-VATS. I have the wiring diagram for my vehicle and the install manual. I want to install the alarm and the remote start. I have figured out most of the wiring and have only a few questions.
1.It looks like I won't need any of the wires from the H2 harness. If I don't need them do I not plug the harness in or do I plug the harness in and tape off. If I do need them, please tell me what to do with those wires.
2. When hooking up the H3 harness, do I need a relay or do I wire directly to the car?
3. I want to hook up the trunk release to the aux button on the remote. Do I need a relay for that?
4. My door locks are 3-wire, with 2 (+) wires and a ground. It looks like the H1 harness has 1 (+) wire and 1 (-) wire. What do I do here?
Any help would be appreciated and I have used the search function to the best of my ability. Thanks in advance.

On #4, I meant to say door lock harness and not the H1 harness. Sorry

Q1.  Does your 5701 have the 10 Pin or 18 Pin H2 Harness?   Can you list the wires?

Q2.  Directly connect the H3 heavy gauge wires to the cars ignition wires.

Q3.  H1/1 for the trunk release.  If Bulldog is correct, it should be a Brown (-) wire at the release switch.

If it tests as (-), connect the Viper RED / White wire directly.

Q4.  The sure route for the Type A door locks is using a DEI 451M module.  Available "on-line" for $7.

Here is a link to the Type A Positive relay diagram : https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#3wp
Here is a link to the DEI 451M install guide : https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=726

Additionally, I would connect the Tach wire and program for Tach Mode.  The Neutral Safety wire/switch must

be installed and connected to chassis ground, switch to ON.

Soldering is fun!

My H2 Auxilary harness is a 8-pin harness.
H2/1 Light GREEN/ Black-     (-) 200mA FACTORY ALARM DISARM OUTPUT
H2/2 Light GREEN / WHITE-    (-) 200mA FACTORY ALARM ARM OUTPUT
H2/3 WHITE/ Violet-              (-) 200mA AUX 1 OUTPUT
H2/4 Violet/Black (-) 200mA AUX 2 OUTPUT
H2/5 WHITE/ Black (-) 200mA AUX 3 OUTPUT
H2/6 Light blue     (-) 200mA 2ND UNLOCK OUTPUT
H2/7 Gray/Black    (-) DIESEL WAIT TO START INPUT
H2/8 BROWN / Black (-) 200mA HORN HONK OUTPUT
This is from the 5701 Install Guide and I visually confirmed the colors on the H2 harness. If I don't need these, do I leave it unplugged, do I plug and tape off, or do I need these. Thanks for your help so far.

Mostly not used.  I don't remember if  there was a Factory Alarm option that year.  Horn honk is optional, use the siren.  If you don't have any plans for the AUX's, you can leave it off.

Thanks for everything so far. I went and got the DEI-451M locally so I could finish this alarm this weekend. It was $20. I am looking at the wiring diagram you linked to me for the 451M, I am trying to figure which wires go where. I think the BROWN / Black and the WHITE/ Black are not used. Where does the Violet/Black, Blue/Black, and the GREEN/ Black go? After I figure this out I should be good to go. Thanks again for everything.

Bulldog lists the Camaros' Lock wire as Light Blue and the Unlock wire as Black in the Drivers Kick Panel.  Locate and verify those two wires.  The Vipers Lock output is Green and its' Unlock output is Blue.  Wire up the 451M following the Type A diagram.

451M                           Camaro
Relay harness
White Black         Not Used - insulate
GREEN/ Black               Light Blue
Violet/Black \
Violet            /           +12V constant thru 15A fuse ( pre-wired )
BROWN / Black     Not Used - insulate
Blue/Black                 Black

The 451M 3 Pin Plug Interface with Green, Red & Blue wires connects to the Viper 3 Pin Lock connector.

( Hard wired 451M Green to Viper Green, 451M Blue to Viper Blue and 451M Red to +12v constant.)

I got a chance to commit a whole day to the alarm this weekend. It was a long process because I took my time, 8 hours, but was worth it. Thanks for the tips and the fast responses. Everything worked great. The locks work great thanks to the 451M. Again, thanks for the help.
