I have a Viper 350 HV tied to a Valet 561t on a 2001 Super Duty diesel that was already installed when I purchased the truck. The remote start function of the Valet has always had a mind of its own and would sometimes work flawlessly but ever so often would only crank the truck and run for about 15 seconds. Now that is all it will do, crank and run for about 15 seconds, die and restart. Also the function that is supposed to allow you to turn the ignition off and leave the vehicle running and locked has never worked.
Using the manuals I have traced and checked all the connections with no obvious problems and no fixes. I have searched this forum and found some wiring tips for which is the tach and wait to start wire for my vehicle and they are correct. The diagnostics check blinks six times which according the manual is (-) Shutdown, which doesn't really tell me anything. The tach will not program and since it doesn't seem to read the wait to start light I think it is set on a timer and the tach wire setting is turned off.
The problem I have ran into is how to change the settings, I can access the menu using the push button but when I click the remote it doesn't seem to change anything ( it is the Viper remote). I have tried to unhook the three and four prong harness from the Viper and connect them to the Valet but to no avail.
Any help would be appreciation.

The programming menu for the 561T probably has you doing something like cycling the ignition switch, pressing the programming button, and then you're probably trying to hit the AUX button on the 350, right?
AUX on the 350 is probably the unit's trunk-release output. And by design it's not going to let you open the trunk of your car while the ignition is on.......therefore that's probably why you can't do your programming. Also why you can't engage pit-stop mode.
You'll probably have to take a piece of scrap wire, poke it into the pin where the WHITE/ blue activation input goes into the 561T, and then take the other end of that wire and tap it to ground in order to change the features.
If you want pit-stop mode, you should be able to install a momentary pushbutton switch that will send a ground to that same wire.
