Hi, I've got a 1995 Toyota 4Runner 4 door SR5 with the 22RE and a 5 speed, and I'm trying to install an Autostart AS-1475. Most of the connections seemed fairly straightforward and I metered every wire before installing, but I'm having trouble entering programming mode and think it might be due to the only wire I haven't wrapped my head around, which is the door trigger wire.
The wiring diagrams tell me there is a B/W wire that can be accessed either at the 2 pin connector on the top of the fuse box in the drivers kick panel, or as it goes down the drivers side sill. The wiring info I can find insist that this wire is supposed to be negative, and that I'm supposed to hook it to the negative door trigger.
When I meter the b/w wire, it seems to have +~12v constantly. Granted, the only way I can get in there is with the drivers door open, but I am manually closing the pin to test the "door closed" state. The black wire it is paired with at the 2 pin connector seems to be +12v with the door open, and grounded with the doorpin closed.
Since the wire was +12v, I tried hooking it to the POS door input wire on the autostart. When I plugged in the unit as per the instructions, it powered up as expected with the 4 flashes of the parking lights, and emitted a high pitched buzzer sound whenever the door pin was open. The sound quit when I cycled the key on. I couldn't get the unit in to programming mode.
The next thing I tried was hooking the NEG door input to the b/w wire since it does go to ground when the door is closed. When the unit is powered up this way, I get the same 4 parking light flashes, but still cannot access programming mode.
I tried wiring it as the manual suggested as well, to the B/W wire that doesn't appear to change state, but this doesn't work either and the unit behaves in the same manner.
Here's some additional info in case it helps.
The wires I haven't hooked up as I didn't think they apply are:
12-pin connector
Glow Plug Input
Ground when running
Ext Trigger Output
Starter Kill Output
Disarm / PTS Output
Rearm Output
Trunk Output
Small 3 pin connector on the side
AUX1 Output
Negative Ignition Output
Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to not driving around with my dash 1/2 put together as much as I am to the actual remote start. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to try to give all the relevant info.
Thanks
