I recently ordered a Python 1401 and when it arrived noticed that it was a factory refurbished unit (not happy about it, but oh well). First of all, the install guide did not match that of the Viper 5101. The 5pin r/s harness (with the neg. start, ignition, etc), and 2 other harness were all in one 2 row (roughly 16-20 pin) plug. I was able to figure out the installation since the colors all matched, but now I cannot get the unit to go into MTS mode. I am following the directions to the 1401 but it doesn't seem to be working.
The box is labeled as such:
Description: 1-Way Supercode Remote start system
Model: Python 1401
B4102P (<-- no idea what this is referring to)
1 more thing, the unit wouldn't connect to my bitwriter and I have done the update (both the chip and the other part). The bitwriter works perfectly fine on all of the 4103 units I've done...
Add one more thing to the list, the remotes are not functioning with the ignition on which I KNOW is not normal for a DEI unit. With this knowledge, I tried to even use the activation input to activate the starter for MTS and it was still a no go.
I really need some help on this asap.
Thanks

I temporarily put the unit in auto mode and everything worked 100%. When remote started, the remote locks would function fine. But if the key was in the ignition and turned to ignition I got no response with any buttons. Key in (keysense) they work fine, even with acc. the locks work fine... its only if the key is in ignition. This is making no sense to me at all. I checked to see if it was in valet mode and it is not.
I really need some help asap. The customer is waiting for my call to come get it and time is tight. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!!!

Ok, figured it out. Turns out they sent me the 4102P instead of the 1401 so the install guide and user guides were completely different. Once I re-programmed it and did the correct MTS sequence everything worked great. Damn useless sellers providing the wrong parts.. lol
