add drone dr1000 to compustar cm3000

As the title states I would would like to add the Drone Mobile dr1000 to my current compustar cm3000.  I have installed a few remote starts but I am not real familiar with all the specifics so I thought I would ask to see how difficult this install may be and if it makes any sense.

The CM3000 is installed in a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 Duramax truck and I would like to add the DR1000 myself.  The reason being is I keep putting my 2way remotes in the washer and it is getting expensive to replace them and if I can do it from my phone I dont have to worry about buying anymore remotes.  I asked tech support at Compustar and this is the response I got:

"The Cm-3000 unit is a difficult install with drone for arming and disarming the unit however tracking and start triggers are not that difficult.  The CM-3000 does not have arm / disarm inputs, and that is where the tricky stuff comes in and not a recommended why for install and requires  to relinquish a remote for the cm3000."

Can anyone explain to me if this is accurate or what needs to be done to make the install work?  I dont understand what they mean by "requires to relinquish a remote for the cm3000".  I just dont want to buy a new brain if I dont have to and I dont know if compustar is just trying to up sell me a new system.  Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.  Thank you for your time.

They are correct, the CM3000 system doesn't have lock and unlock options to control the arm and disarm feature of the system for the Drone. What they're saying is that the Drone has to be able to arm and disarm the CM3000 for you to enter the vehicle without the alarm being triggered. Since the only way to arm and disarm the system so far is with the remote FOB, you would have to give up one of your remote controls and tie into the FOB buttons directly off the FOB board to arm and disarm the system. The CM4000 has the option for a external arm and disarm control. This is what you need in order to not give up a remote as well as not having to do all the extra work with the remote.Jeff

Ok. I now understand what they were talking about with the remote. I have a few more questions now. 1.) How does the cm3000 i have installed now handle the arming and disarming? Through a bypass? 2.) How hard would the switch to a cm4000 brain be? 3.) What is the concensus on the Drone system. I just want it for the remote start and to lock unlock doors, i dont need the gps tracking. Is it worth it? What are the down sides of the system? Velosity thank you for your reply and time. Any answers for the above questions would be appreciated.

1. The arming and disarming is done internally. The bypass arms and disarms the OEM alarm but it's the Compustar alarm that you want to be able to control via Drone. 2. The harnesses are different so you would need to cut and resolder the new harnesses 3. You still need to be able to control the arming and disarming of the Compustar system so a CM4000 is required. The GPS us only if you really need it to track if you want to see where your teenager is or wife,lol. The only draw backs I've seen is the delay in network and also the system doesn't work without 3G network.Jeff
