I recently purchased a Vampire Alarm and remote door actuator. I installed it on my 1997 Nissan Altima GXE.
I could not get the door actuator to work until I ran wires from the driver side door switch instead of from the
wiring harness behind the fuse panel. Now the alarm sets and deactivates along with the parking lights flashing,
and upon activation the doors lock just fine. But upon deactivation the alarm chirps, the lights flash but the
doors do not unlock most of the time. When they do unlock there is a long (several seconds) delay between
the chirp and light flash and the doors unlocking. Can anyone give me a clue as to what I did wrong?

Is the GXE not the top of the line Altima ? I'm assuming that if it is, there was power door locks to begin with ? Correct me if I'm wrong here . If not , then you used two relays to install the door lock actuators in line of the alarm system. If you did not then there is your problem. Please give some more details of your installation and we can help you more.

You are correct the GXE came with power door locks and yes I used two seperate out puts from the alarm
module for door open and door lock. Today both functions are working properly, but yesterday only the lock
function worked. I have done nothing between yesterday and today to change the operation, other than to
press the activation button on the remote to lock the doors when I got home and to unlock the doors this
morning. When installing the alarm, I verified that the positive pulse went to the positive side of the alarm
and the negative pulse to the negative line on the alarm. No seperate relays were installed since I did not
install the actual alarm. I was only interested in the remote door operation not in the security aspects of the alarm.
Thank you for your input and help

Hey Ed,

I just  need some more clarification here and I'll be off your back with questions and may have a solution for you Vampire Alarm in 1997 Nissan Altima -- posted image..  You first mentioned that door lock actuators were added to the Altima or were you just refering to the Vampire alarm system & keyless entry ? "I recently purchased a Vampire Alarm and remote door actuator" I just wanted to verify that the " remote door actuator " was not add-on door lock actuators.

Sounds like either there is a loose conenction to the lock wires or the plug going into the Vampire alarm is loose. Double check to make sure that the connection from the unlock wire has not loosened off. If I remeber correctly, the wires for the keyless entry has a GREEN, BLUE and a RED wire but they are very small gauge ( about 20 gauge ) Make sure that as much of the wire from the Vampire unlock wire is wrapped with the wire going to the unlock wire of the Altima to ensure a solid connection and always solder your connections . Please post your results and we'll see if there are any other suggestions for you from other installers.

Correct again, I just added the Vampire alarm module. The door lock actuators were original equipment
with the car. I will re check the wires going to the door switch and the plug on the module, I suspect that
you are right about a loose connection, I used crimp on connectors instead of soldering as I would do if
I were building an electronic component. I will let you know what I find when I recheck the connections.
thanks again for your help.
