I want a simple 2-way remote start system for my 2005 F250 (gas) truck.  It currently has remote locks and no alarm.  No immobilizer so it should be a simple install.

The more I read on the internet, the more confused I get.  Most of my research pointed me towards the compustar stuff and away from Viper as they have "gone downhill".  I was ready to jump on the Slice Jr. remote with associated FT-6200S-CONT brain, but shopping on the internet shows that the box is discontinued?  Ideas?

I used Viper stuff in 6 of my own vehicles with out any issues. Mostly the Viper 5301 stuff. Currently have a Viper 4706 in my 2004 F150. No issues. A Viper 5301 in the wife's 09 Corolla for 6 years now.

While the FT-6200-s has been replaced by the newer FT-7200-s, it is still a nice unit and the prices are reasonable. It has all the features you need.
Agree with Mr. Smoke. IMHO, a lot of the bad press on the Viper products comes from non- DEI trained people that have problems due to the un-availabliity of complete install guides, tech support, etc.

Thanks, I'll read up on the 7200 as well.  I already see that it's smaller, that'll help.  I pulled down the wiring diagram from the bullydog website, that has most of my questions answered.  I'm not DEI trained either, but I put remote start in an '03 F250 diesel years ago and probably a dozen audio systems, so I can get it done.

Here is a link to a remote start Pictorial on a 2002 F250 which should be of assistance :

Remember that with Compustar systems, they usually are sold in two separate units.  The controller kit and the remotes /

antenna kit.  Make sure that the remote kit is compatible with the controller kit.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the newer box and the slice jr remote. Can't wait to get it installed. Any idea if I want the high or low power ignition? New box has both...

Called a Circuit Buddy.  Pretty handy tester.  Goes for about $25.  Here is a link :  http://www.circuitbuddy.net/products.htm

Here is a link to a Pictorial where it is mentioned :  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=133496

I'm about to install today. Reading the instructions I have questions...
The f250 has IGN 1 and 2, as well as accessory 1 and 2. I don't have have enough outputs on the compustar to power them all. I could use the parking light output and program it for second accessory? But then my lights won't flash. Or can I somehow combine two together?
