I was sent a DEI Avital 3300 sytem instead of the Hornet 553 that I have used a dozen times before. Looks the same except for the remote. Anything I should be aware of? Do you know if the remotes can be programmed for two cars? I have a Gator in my 90 325ic and have a second Avital 3300 that I can install in that car as well. Just a wish. Regarding the window module (DEI 530T). Do I absolutely need to get into everydoor and split the powerleads to the motors, or can I get the same result by connecting in the drivers door where the master switches are. I don't care about the one touch up or down with the other windows. Thanks in advance.

Hey   Deldolfan,

When you say that they look the same it's 'cause they are.  You can control two cars with the same remote as you were used to with the 553.  Most of the time you can simply go into the drivers' door for the window wires of all four doors, however keep in mind that that this module has to be wired directly to the motor wires and not the switches which go to another controller.  Avital and window module ?'s -- posted image.

Thanks Big Dog. Since I had a few seconds, I popped the switch out of the rear door and "investigated" the layout. It does look like a control module (small relay inside). It had 6-8 wires to it (I think) ...3 large gauge and some smaller wires which probably control that module relay. So it looks like I have to go to each door. As for the two car control, I didn't know the 553 could do that! No info in the install manual and the "techs" at DEI aren't too helpful at times. Any link to guide me? I actually had to remind the guy last time as to who really pays his paycheck!

Hey Deldolfan,

The mystery is too great a thing for me . . . what make, model, year is your car and I'll guide you along if you want. Avital and window module ?'s -- posted image.

for power locks and windows, I usually tap everything from the driver's front door, where all the controls are anyway.
No need to tap each door. You can usually do driver's door priority from that same door as well.
