I`ve designed an auto start which I`ve yet to make, I`ve just got one question.
My ignition has ACC, ON, and START (and off obviously)
With the key at ACC, the ACC wire goes to GND
at ON, the ACC and ON go to GND
at START, the START and ON wire go to GND (but not ACC)
Is there any reason why ACC can`t also be connected when the key is in the START position?
Hope thats clear enough, any help would be great, cheers!

Accessory shuts off during crank to provide more battery power to the starter motor. During cold weather when the battery is weakened the starter neads all the juice it can get. Powering the heater, radio, etc. at the same time as the starter motor requires a lot of current.

Why design your own remote start...just grab 10 relays and make the following Auto Start -- posted image.

Because mine only uses 6 relays ;) (wether it works remains to be seen!) That one has 4 switch positions tho, my car only has 3 so that might be why.
I just remembered I made a starter button a while ago (was cool until I realised I still needed the key to disengage the steering lock, defeated the purpose of it really...) and that had the ACC connected with no problems...
So there is no harm in having it connected other than it won`t always work? (and obviously drain the battery if I keep trying it :) )
Guess I`ll try to do it proporly tho :)
Cheers!

Its connected to the 2-channel output on my alarm ie: when I push button 2+3 on my remote it sends a (-) pulse for about 2 seconds. I`ve posted a diagram in another message
