I am using the Arctic Start alarm system. It uses the same brains as the Compustar just packaged differently. The issue I'm having is with the built in turbo timer feature. If I remove the keys and leave the car the car keeps running for 2 mins.(which it should do). However if I close the door the alarm arms, and the car shuts off. Should the car not arm or lock the doors? Then after 2 mins. shut down? I'd prefer to take the keys out leave, doors lock, and when car shuts down(after 2mins) the alarm arms. Is this possible? Have the installers missed something in the set up? Or is this the way these "Turbo timer" features work with all?

I have a M/T WRX.

Not familiar with the alarm, sounds like an installation/programming issue.   Did they give you an owners/installation manual?  Sounds like you had it installed by someone.  My friends '87 RX-7 has a Greddy turbo timer and when he arms it-no prob, runs a 'lil to cool it down and shuts down.  It seems like the starter kill relay is activating upon arm and "killing the engine" when you want it to run for your specified duration-2 mins.  It needs to be wired before the starter kill relay?   I know with my RS3, I have the keys in the ignition-engine on, press remote start, remove the keys, get out and arm it, and it'll run for the duration I set it for-18 mins(set for remote start/warm up-no turbo).

Thanks alot for replying rudbwoy,

That is correct - I did have it installed by a shop. Conveniently they through out the installation manual...was not to happy about that...

I'm not sure if your familiar with the Compustar remote start/alarm combo but this is pretty much the same thing. I've never tried remote starting the car with the key in the ignition.

I have not been able to turn on the "turbo" icon on the pager. I have a feeling that it may be linked to your suggestion. I'll try the button combo with the keys in the ignition and the car running. The icon may appear and that may enable the "turbo" feature without shutting down the car. I'll give that a shot. It could also be an installation issue...

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

there is no doubt in my mind that it is a programming issue.  can't you go to Compustars site and download the manual?  have the shop cross reference it...are you in canada?  I know of only one cdn dealer that sells Arctic Start (which is a compustar house brand).  if you paid for the install, the shop needs to correct it.  end of story!

Hello B,

thank you very much for the response. Yes, you are absolutely correct. I went through one of the Compustar manuals that I had downloaded a while back. I checked the programming options and went through the process. The functionality now works! The fellah's that did the install were not an authorized dealer - 20hz.

Long story short, about 50 ppl were in on a group buy organized through the T.O. Accord club. Prices included installation. Through a small dealer in Woodbridge/Concord. When it came time to pick-up/install the alarm the store jacked up the install price. Needless to say folks were upset. I was lucky  to find 20hz that did the install for far less than anyone else was willing to do.

Could you pls post where I can obtain a spare remote for this alarm should I lose mine. I have no way of finding out who to approach in the T.O area for this item.

Thanks for your time!

Drew.

Arctic start is a Robert thiebert house brand. Autostart, Compustar , and Ultra start have all  made arctic start for thiebert.

I didn't want to mention the name, but yep, its an RT house brand...they sell it to this day.  Prices are excellent compared to the IDENTICAL compustar products...haven't done any yet tho....the prices are still quite high compared to Autostarts competitive products...
