I had a Black Widow alarm installed in my 1998 GMC Jimmy by Best Buy in July 03 and it worked great.  After shipping my truck to Iceland where I am now stationed the alarm does not work correctly anymore.  When the alarm is armed the horn will start honking for no reason but the siren does not go off.  If the alarm is tripped the siren will go off and the horn continues to honk.  The honking is not constant, it will honk for a few seconds, stop, and then honk again.  I know that Best Buy did not connect my horn to the alarm so I am totally confused as to why it is honking when the alarm is armed.  Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks

Was the battery disconnected for the trip?
The reason I ask is it sounds like the factory alarm is what is honking the horn. I was thinking maybe the extended power outage to the alarm brain might have reset one of its outputs to a default state, that output could have been used to disarm the factory system but is now outputing something that is ticking the truck off.

Both of the terminals were loose when I picked the truck up so I think it was disconnected.  I bought the truck used and it did not have an alarm transmitter so I assumed it did not have a factory alarm.  If there is a factory alarm and it is set to its default state how do I fix it?

What is happening is the factory alarm is going off, normally if you have  a factory remote you would be able to arm and disarm with that remote.  What could have happened is that they disconnected the battery or they may have locked the doors using only the key.  If you lock/unlock the doors using only the key even if the Black widow alarm is disarmed it will cause the factory alarm to go off.  For example if you get out of the truck and leave the alarm off but lock the doors with the key and then unlock them with the black widow alarm remote it will cause the factory alarm to go off, but not the black widow.  If you have stopped the honking make sure you use just the remote and not the key to lock/unlock the doors.
