and I'm just wondering how to hook them up with one relay, cuz I only need the lock function (going to wire up as accessory 4).
I'm talking about this setup:
How to hook up door lock relay setup -- posted image.
It's for my '91 Civic sedan (negatively triggered.) I'd like to keep the equipment to a minimum and just use one. Is there a way to use this setup and elinate one relay??

Forgot to add, got this advice from someone off honda-tech....
"Get a standard SPDT Relay (30 or 40 Amp rated).
terminal 85 hook up to a constant 12V source
terminal 86 hook up to your alarm accessory wire (-negative pulse)
terminal 30 hook up to a ground
terminal 87 hook up to your door lock wire
terminal 87a is not used
This will provide a negative pulse to your door lock wire once the accessory function is accessed on your alarm."
Another piece of advice I received from on here is:
term. 86 alarm 4th channel access.
term. 30 door lock wire
term. 85 fused 12V
term. 87 ground
Now, which one's which?? I'd rather not "test it" formyself and blow something....

you have negative pulse door locks so dont use the first diagram that you postyed because you would be sending positive 12 volts instead of ground.
are you hooking up to alarm??
why not use the unlock output from the aarm???
If you are going to use one relay than you will only get 1 function lock or unlock.
the diagram you posted at first is corect but you must make 87 a ground and not positive for this sytem to work.
In your second post both relay setups will do the same thing but only for lock or unlock not both you would need 2 relays.

Yeah, hooking it up to an alarm. The door lock function (a transistor in my alarm's brain) is fried and I can't lock/autolock w/ arming the system. How can I use the unlock function for locking the doors?

The alarm works fine except the locking feature...like I mentioned before the transistor (that handles the locks) is fried. I know I'll have either function with one relay, so this is my last option. I don't feel like going through the hassle of removing the whole thing and having the shop I bought it from (in 1997) send it in...and pay extra for a newer model...that is IF DEI/Clifford feels like it. And please don't say "go out and buy a new one" cuz I can't afford it yet. Car isn't even smogged [using 30 day operating passes..every month] until I can.
