Hi:

Woundering if anyone could help me, please. I'm installing an Ultrastart 2250TL in a 1990 Dodge Pickup with factory Cummings Diesel. I have the 1990 DodgeFullsize Pickup Security Printout but it doesn't seem to address the diesel. As for the tach pickup it states the (-) coil. Theres no coil on a diesel so does any one know where to get the tach signal. Also where would you take the glow signal from (the wait to start light on the dash) or (the heating element in the intake manifold) and what would this signal be (-) or (+). The ultrastart unit works great with diesels because it waits for the glow plug circut to shut off before it starts cranking. I have one on  my 99 Suburban Diesel and it works flawlessly. Thanks, any help on the Dodge is greatly appreciated.

Tom

You can interface the tach wire to one of the fuel injector wire, each injector will have a common color, and the other will have a unique color. Use the the one that is unique in color on that injector.
At the PCM,
To varify the polarity of the wire in the dash *wait to start indicator*. Take your DMM and set it to DC volts.
Attach the meters positive probe to +12 volts. Using the other end of the DMM's negative lead, probe the wire you suspect is the negative (-) wire that leads to the bulb that turns on the *Wait to start* lamp.
Turn the ignition to the ON position.
If the DMM indicates +12 VDC, untill the indicator lamp goes out. You have found the proper polarity wire which indicates that it is (-) negative.
If on the other hand, you have zero volts, untill the lamp turns off, and then it shows +12 VDC on the DMM, you have isolated the correct wire, and this is a positive polarity wire(+) .
