Im looking for the right info on the headlight wire for a 2003 dodge dakota quad cab. audiovox tech says light green (-) at the headlight switch, and there is no light green at the switch. DEI says light green /orange (-) at the headlight switch, which does test right, but when you tag the wire and touch it to ground the headlights do not turn on. im guessing there possibly needs to be a resistor in place??? does anyone know the proper way to make the headlights turn on ???

Generally, domestic vehicles do not have ground switched headlights.  Did you try applying 12 volts via a relay to activate the lights?

When you meter the lt. green wire does it show +12v when off and then jump to about 0 when on? If so, it would be straight negative trigger. I've never tried to turn headlights on before, but maybe the parking lights needs to be on first. Try turning the parking lights on and then grounding the lt. GREEN/ orange wire and see if the headlights turn on.
