2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Remote start

I am putting a remote start/alarm in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am using the JDL-PK transponder bypass kit. I have used one of these before and if i remember right i still had to hook up the parking light wire of the alarm/remote start directly into the factory wire if i wanted the parking lights to stay on after it is remote started. the tech from the alarm company i talked to said to just hook the parking light up under the hood and break the normally closed pin off of the parking light relay because the parking light relay rests at ground. that seemed to work fine, i was just wondering if that was what was normally done or not. i also saw somewhere where you can cut into the parking light wire and use a 1K ohm resistor. just curious on what the best way to do it is. thanks, trent

the parkinglight wire in the ignition harness is negative through a 1k Ohm resistor Relay setup: 86 to + parkinglight output from starter 85 to ground 30 to car side of cut yellow wire 87a to switch side of cut yellow wire 87 to the 1 k resistor, and the other side of the resistor to ground J Rilla

Another way to do the parklights is through a negative pulse into the factory relay for parklights, this will only activate the outside parklights which is all you really need, and the relay should be behind the dash pad to your left, just flick the parklights and listen for a relay clicking, then you can tap into it.Kyle@Audio Obsession Sound
