I'm trying to put a remote start in this truck, and have a couple questions about bypassing the factory anti-theft.

1.  Do I need to send a disarm signal to the factory alarm and bypass the transponder, or is it just one or the other necessary?

2.  Does the signal have to be positive or negative, and pulsed or constant?

Yes you need to bypass the factory alarm and you definately need to bypass the transponder.
First find out if you have a factory alarm. Just look under the hood and see if you have a plunger on the left of the engine bay. I've looked through all of my notes and I'm not even sure if they had factory alarms? But if you have the plunger you'll have it, it's usually GREEN/ violet in the driver's kick. And you have to ground it to disarm. And if you have PATS, and I'm sure you do, you'll have to bypass it.
