I installed a Bulldog remote start/keyless entry rs114 on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible a few weeks ago and have problems with it the whole time, but never had time to try to find out whats wrong. The keyless entry works fine, but I am having 2 problems.
1. When the car is remote started the heater/ac does not come on until you put the key in and turn it. I had looked the wires up on this site, bulldog's site ( http://bulldogsecurity.com/New%20Wires/New%20Wires/Wires/sebrc96-98.htm ) and DEI's. They all had different wires listed and I tested them with a multimeter and thought I picked the right ones. I used:
12v - pink/black
starter - yellow
ignition 1 - blue
ignition 2 - GREEN/ red
accessory - BLACK/ white
I think the problem is with the accessory wire. On this site it shows the BLACK/ white wire as the Igintion 3 wire, and it says (Heat/AC). That is why I chose to hook it up to the accessory thinking it would control heat/ac. This site also has BLACK/ orange listed as Accessory and says (Blower Motor). My rs unit says if I have more than 1 accessory wire to hook both wires up to the accessory wire from it. So should I leave the wires as I have them now and just also connect the BLACK/ orange wire to the rs's accessory wire?
2. The other problem I am having is with the car not always cranking with the remote starter. It always cranks and runs at least a few seconds, but then about 75% of the time the car will cut off. If I try cranking it again, it has the same behavior - sometimes it will keep running but sometimes it will die. I've sat in the car and pushed on the gas after cranking it, and it will keep running that way. I currently have it in tachless mode. I did not feel comfortable drilling a hole to run a tach wire, so I had a local shop connect the tach wire - he said he hooked it up at the ECM. I thought maybe the problem would be corrected if I used tach mode, but this thing refuses to learn the tach, I follow the manual's instructions but everytime I hit the button to learn, it grinds the starter and does not flash that it learned. I'm assuming its not normal for a rs to grind the starter when learning the tach? Also he said he ran both a positive, and a negative tach wire. This behavior is with either one of them being used. So any ideas of what I need to do to fix this? Tach or tachless mode?

well dude, you got some probs. first, with your heater, yes you could probably just hook up the tother acc wire and it will power your heater but that is not technically correct, you should be using a relay to supply more power to another wire, not "twinning". Second, this guy most likely did not get the right tach wire, because the starter hanging pretty much always means you are not getting a good pulse or it is too "dirty" to use. Find an injector they are the best. And consequently, Bulldog is JUNK. Positive and negative tach wire????????????? all i can say is this person definitely has no clue.

The way I usually do it is make a relay for two acc wires. As far as the tach goes it sounds to me like you grabbed the wrong one. It should be a BLACK/ gray wire and a dark blue/green wire. Each of those wires gives out a 2 cylinder signal.

1st relay-

87 - 12v

85 - ground

30 - acc 2

86 - alarm output

2nd relay

87 - 12v

85 - ground

30 - ign 2

86 - alarm output

I know most people around here don't like bulldog products, but it is affordable and the one on my Camry works perfect. I will hook up the second accessory wire with a relay this weekend hopefully when I have time.
The guy said he got one wire at the ECM and the other behind the instrument panel. He said most rs's use a positive, but thought maybe since it was bulldog it used a negative. This is my first experience with using tach mode/wire so I didn't know. Is there a way to test the wire(s) he ran to see if they are the correct ones? Like with a multimeter, what would they read and when?

i agree with soultinter, "bulldog is junk". i refuse to install anything made by bulldog, and if you are lucky enough to get a bulldog product working out of the box, its only a matter of time until it takes a crap. like they say.. "you get what you pay for"

damnit. bulldog sucks. i've changed my mind overnight! the rs/keyless entry on my camry messed up today. when i got home i couldn't turn the car off! after i unplugged the rs it worked like normal. called bulldog and they said they have problems with some units like that, and to try resetting the memory and if that doesn't fix it to send it for it to be fixed... but i'm not taking a chance on it again. i disconnected all the wires except the 12v/ground and lock/unlock wires and just going to use the keyless entry now. don't want to risk not being able to turn the car off again! bulldog is junk!

I believe the installer was trying to state the following:

(+) Tach : Voltage sensing

(-) Tach : AC voltage sensing

AC power is alternate current so it's not really (-) or (+) that's why you can test a tach signal with a (+) or a (-) on the DMM and still get the same results.

Regardless, the HVAC wire is a BLACK/ ORANGE wire and you can test this wire by placing 12 volts on this wire and having the fan on high. The fan should kick over when you apply the 12 volts. The car DOES have a 2nd IGNITION wire ( GREEN/ RED ) that needs to be powered up as well when remote starting. Did you powe rthis one up. The wiring is 98 % why most remote starts do not work and if you can not get the tach signal to learn properly, go to an injector ( choose the uncommon colored wire at hte injector ). Otherwise use the tach signal wire BLACK/ GRAY at the ignition coil pack.

i was using the GREEN/ red wire for ignition 2. thanks for trying to help again jeff. but unfortunatly i'm removing the rs from this car this weekend because the same model messed up on my camry yesterday and wouldn't let me turn the car off. just gonna leave the keyless entry hooked up on them and buy a dei rs one day when i have more money.
