Fellas,

I have an older alarm system on my truck, about 8 yrs old. The brand name of the system is "Lone Star". I haven't used the alarm in quite a while and it is now giving me some problems. I have kept the system on "valet" mode because my keypad has gone to hell.  This morning I noticed that the red signal light was off, not on like usual.  Then ,while I was driving the kill switch activated and totally diabled my truck, while it was in motion going down the street. Then the alarm activated and I had to disconnect my new battery and then reset the alarm to the valet mode. I assume that reset the relay and it starts and runs fine now.

This all creates a huge saftey issue  with me and I need to totally disable the alarm if not outright remove the whole system. The local alarm techs are no help, they just want money that I don't have. Could someone please give me some step by step instructions of how to atleast diable the kill switch.

Thanks alot,

JD

Have you tried to locate the unit under the dash???
you can look under the dash and see if yyou can find it. once you find just unplug it. you may have to trace the starter wire from the alarm and rewire it back to the way it was before the alarm was installed. it will be hard for anyone on here to tell you how to do it because we cant see how they installed it. we should be able to help/walk you through it. let us know what you have......
Good Luck

I may have got it.

I pulled the dash and found the brain. On one side had a mass connection and on another side is where the valet switch is hooked up, then next to the valet connection was a connection with a black and a red wire . I traced that to the ingnition switch and decided to disconnect it from the brain. When I did that, there was no activity with the alarm at all. I took it for a drive and it went well.

But is the kill switch /relay usually contained inside the brain or along the wiring? Is there anything else I need to know?
