My sister recently purchased a 2001 Accord EX V6 and it came with an alarm.  Although, when i press lock/unlock, the lights turn on/off, and the doors lock/unlock, but there is no horn output or siren chirp.  Im also wondering if it is in valet mode, and if it is, how do i get out of it? does anyone know?

the alarm does not have a shock sensor, it only has doorlock sensors, trunk release and hood sensors.  When armed, if the doorlock is unlocked, the alarm goes off WITH the horn, but wen i unlock/lock the car with the remote, there is no horn output/siren chirp.  What could be the problem here?  Thanks.

Yes, it is an OEM system.  There is no siren under the hood.  My question is that although it is OEM, some OEM alarms beep upon arming/disarming the system.  Why doesnt this beep?  Is that another feature or a function that was turned off at the dealership?  Would an OEM system even have a valet option to it?  If so, whats the process in turning it on or off.  I tried doing it DEI's way (open door, arm/disarm) but that doesnt work.  I also tried it via PME way (key in IG2, open door, hold down arm button) that also doesnt work.

I never really dealt with factory OE alarms before, therefore I dont kno the process to turn on/off certain functions.

But thanks for your help, if you have anymore suggestions, please post them!  :-D

Most systems that i have worked on only honk the horn upon arming the system. When unlock it does not. Every manufacturer will be different as there is no industry norm. Try checking with your local Honda dealer and asking if they can give you this information or if it's even possible.

Alright, I will call up the local Honda Dealership and see if they are willing to provide me this information.  Most likely, they will try to get me in to the dealership and charge me an arm and a leg but hey... knowledge is power (money in this case)

Most Honda dealers will part with the info. for free. The oem does not work the horn except when set off. The alarm is disabled when a key is used in the door no valet needed.

ask them if it may be a programmable feature, some manufactures give you this option since its a little annoying hearing the horn honk every time you lock your doors to arm the alarm. Some allow you to program it to silent arm with either audible, visual (parking lights) or both confirmation.

you should be able to hear the horn honk upon arming, but only when you press the "arm" button a second time. there are no programming features to this particular oem alarm.

As jimmeezgolfvr6 said you have to press Lock twice to hear a "chirp". Pressing unlock twice just unlocks all the doors. (Thats how it works on my 1999 Accord EX)
