My installation manual says to be very careful while installing the remote-start, to not cut or go near any wires that are for the airbags since I may deploy it/them inadvertently. If I disconnect the battery while I do my installation and not cut or poke any wires for the airbags, am I safe? Does the airbag go off even if the wires come close to other wires with voltage in them? (induction??)
thanks.

if you disconnect the battery, that doesnt mean you are safe. some airbags hold a charge for a while. as far as the wiring, most air bag wires are inside of or marked by yellow loom or connectors. just dont cut or tap into these wires. you should be able to tell which wires are for the airbags.

my repair manuals say that i have an auxilliary battery in my vehicle that holds the charge for 180 seconds so that in case of an accident and loss of battery power, the airbags will still deploy. So if i stay away from yellow wires (hopefully I can tell which ones) and let the 180 seconds pass by, am I all set to start the surgery on my car?
Also just in case (remote chance) that I messed up and got the airbags to deploy, can I put it back in or do I need to go get a new one from the dealer? Just trying to be safe as this is my first install where i need to mess with/cut starter wires etc. i want to be doubly sure and safe. thanks!

i really dont think you have anything to worry about.
and no you can repair them. a dealer would have to replace them and they are NOT CHEAP!
you will see the yellow that i was talking about.
Good Luck

on that car the airbag wire is clearly marked, nothing to worry about as long as you dont mess with them.
