Hello and thanks for reading...About 5 years ago I was an auto alarm Installer, worked for a few big alarm dealers such as LO/Jack.  I gave it up because it was not what I went to school for, so once I was able to find work in my field, I took that.

My problem now is I just bought a new 2004 Dakota, I want to install an alarm/remote start myself, like I have been doing with the other cars/trucks I own.  The problem is I need to know where to find the TACH wire for the remote start? I cant find the Ignition coil to this truck?  Can some one please tell me where I can find the Tach signal wire on this truck so I can hook up a remote start?  I know that in 2004 Dodge switched motors in this truck, I had a 2003 Dakota which had the 3.9L V6 (which I had no trouble finding the ignition coil) now for 2004 it has a 3.7L V6, the same as in the Jeep Liberty.  Please can some one help me out with this?

Also I was wondering if I can tap a wire off one of the fuel injectors for the tach input on the remote start?

Thanks for reading....

you sure can tap nto one of the fuel injector wires, just make sure you use one of the odd colored ones.

On all your injectors there is one wire that is the same color, the other wire is different color on the injectors, use the different color.

Again, thank you very much!!! this is a great help!

Next, I need to ask, just because it will be easier on my install, would anyone have a wire diagram for a 2004 Dodge Dakota? do you think that dodge changed the wire colors from 2003? because I installed a 2003 Dakota last year.  Reason I think they might have changed is because they changed the motor to the 3.7l V6 (found in jeep Liberty)

Thanks again!
