I recently installed a remote starter with keyless entry into a 98 ford windstar and whenever i press the lock/unlock button on the remote the locks click 3 times in the same direction.  I tried changing the setting so it had only one pulse and a .75 second pulse and it still doesn't help. I also tried to put the settings back to default and it still clicked 3 times instead of the normal once. So i tried to change those settings again and it didn't help any. Does anybody have any ideas on why it clicks 3 times instead of just the normal one.

Hey Beav,

I assume your Windstar has factory keyless entry.

If so, you should be sending a NEGATIVE pulse to a pink / YELLOW wire in the drivers kick panel to lock and

a NEGATIVE pulse to  the pink/light green to unlock in the drivers kick panel.

If your remote starter has only a positive lock/unlock pulse, or reverses polarity, you will need to install relay(s)

to keep the signals negative.

Also, test these wires carefully, there are often more than one of each colour.

I hooked it up to those wires and the starter uses a negative pulse to unlock the doors. The windstar does not have factory keyless entry but does have automatic door locks. It still does the same thing. Is there any other ideas that you think could fix this because i am stumped.

No factory keyless entry? Thats rare!!! No problem though. Give me an E-mail address and I will send you a schematic for reverse polarity 5 wire door locks.

All my information says that it's a(-) trigger system as well. Make sure that the ground that you used for the system is sufficient. Paint free and dirt free as well straight onto metal. If the ground is bad or not good enough, this will give the system poor performance or irratic behaviors.
