alarm is a G5 intelliguard 850 i was able to install everything fine, and everything works. but i cant seem to get the horn to beep when arm/disarm/activation  i know i need a relay/s , diode, etc... just not sure which wires go where and to what on the relay/s, which way diode goes, and the such... i'm not sure if this will pulse byitself , but im sure i need to hook it up to a light flash signal also, just unsure where it goes on the relay???

i did search here and on the net and ive tried about 5 different ways and all do not work. i know i am doing something wrong. thanks for any help you can provide,,, this is for a honda civic with a negative horn setup..

Hi,

I think the yellow / white horn honk output of your alarm only activates when your alarm goes off.     I am not sure about his, but I think when you arm and disarm only the sirene will beep and no horn honk.   

Get a 5 pole SPDT relay.   

Connect as follow:

#85 : yellow/white horn honk

#86 : positive (+)

#30 : to your (-) horn trigger

#87 : negative (-)

You have to test if you trigger this horn honk wire of the car and verify if indeed that it sounds the horn.    Sometimes this trigger wire only works when the car is started or in ignition (closed circuit).    sometimes you have to go directly to the horn itself.    You just have to test it to make sure it works.

With above method your honk will sound when your alarm goes off.

If you want your horn to beep by arming and disarming, then you have to use the outputs of the parking ligts.    And use a relay to isolate the circuit and to trigger the horn.    

But it is nicer to arm and diarm the car and just to hear the siren beeps (clifford has a nice beeping sound)

if so is #87 still a ground connection and what about #87a? < what wire goes there.

Hi,

87a and 87  are almost the same.   You can think of it as a splitting.   the current can go to either one.     It is either 87a or 87.   When the relay (coil) is energized then the current from 30 goes to 87a and when it is not charged the it goes to 87.     The best thing to do in order to understand relays is to open one up and play with it,  then you can actually see how it works and hoe it gets energized.     It is a litle bit dificult to explain in typing.   Just play with it and have fun.

In your case,,,,just leave 87a blank.

Relays you can hook up different ways.     Here is another way, that gives the exactly the same result:

#85 : postive (+)

#86 : yellow/white horn honk

#30 : negative (-)

#87 : to your (-) horn trigger

This way it gives the same result.

hey i tried it and it didnt work????    and i looked at the wiring diagrams on the clifford website and they show the yellow wire to go to an additional siren , but no mention of a relay, but i know i need one, i wish they would show what to do next.. ???

what kind of car are you working on, it may have a postive horn wire

it i a 93 honda civic... and    i think it is a positive horn but others say it is a negative....

there are black  (-) red(+) and the red+ is hooked up to a dark GREEN/ red wire for the horn... and i tested this wire and it is a constant 12v . so i can only assume it is wired 12v and not negative....

im such an idiot.... i was taping into the wrong wire the whole time...... the horn wire was  blue/red   thanks for all the help everyone.
