I have a 790XV in an '04 Dodge Ram 1500 truck (hemi) that was professionally installed by one of the best in the business.  For two years this alarm/remote start has failed as follows.  It often (a random 10% of the time) loses it's ability to communicate between the remotes and the unit requiring you to set off the alarm and utilize the valet switch to kill the alarm BUT when this occurs the valet switch does not respond normally and requires numerous attempts before it will work following the directions explicitly.  This problem is random, it occurs with two different remotes, it now occurs utilizing a new 791 remote, the alarm itself has been changed out with same result, I have cycled the remote numerous times thinking it was code hoping issue per directions to no avail and as of yesterday, it now is doing oneway communication as the remote when the unit works will lock unlock starte etc. but the display on the pager is not changing i.e. it will lock truck and pager shows unlocked or it will start but not show it on BOTH the 790 and 791 remotes.  This is totally bizarrre we know there are remote problems but we are using 3 different ones with same result, we have changed the unit with same result.  We know there are antenna problems but doesn't non-normal valet switch activity and oneway communication eliminate this.  Could it be a intermittent grounding problem or is there anything on Dodge wiring issues?

We have had this with other brands as well. If you live a a colder climate, the antenna freezes or doesn't allow the CPU to communicate with the remote control. This happens randomly to systems that we have installed over the past year. I know thi isn't with every unit we sell because there have been customer's that have had their system for over a year without a hickup. I just got feedup with one customer and ripped the system out and installed a Compustar and they haven't had a problem with it since and it's been 6 months without a call from them.

just curious... did you try to replace the antenna?  just remember that all communication, one way and two way takes place between the remotes and the receiver which is in the antenna base assy.....

Most of those units mess up that is why they came out with an "updated" version of this alarm. You should contact DEI and see what they can do for you. Make sure you have your original reciept.
